Wittmann France moves into new home
Time:2008-08-29
Wittmann has completed the consolidation of its French subsidiaries into a factory on a new site in Chassal, combining its existing activities at two plants.

The ancillary and injection moulding equipment manufacturer located the new facility 20 kilometres from Oyonnax, the centre of France’s plastics processing sector.

The centre houses the business of former mouldmaker Paul Regad, bought by Wittmann two years ago and as well as its granulator manufacturing operation in France.

The Regad business specialised in in-mould labelling systems and now forms part of the Austrian company’s bespoke automated IML systems. The latter is proving successful among packaging suppliers to the European food industry.

According to Wittmann UK md, Barry Hill, the French operation is becoming increasingly important to the UK market, where details of an IML installation will shortly be released.

The manufacture of granulators by Wittmann France is now being undertaken on a 900m2 floor space at the Chassal factory. The site also houses a paint shop and a testing facility and is backed by a 720m2 storeroom.

The mould tool manufacturing area also covers 900m2 and includes a robot production unit with injection moulding machines with clamping forces of 200 tonne and 420 tonne. These are available for testing and harmonising moulds with IML robotic systems before delivery.
