Ticona extends agreement with Resinex
Time:2008-08-13
Engineering polymer major Ticona has extended its cooperation with distributor Resinex to the UK, Ireland and the Benelux area with effect from this month.

The agreement adds to the existing relationship the company holds with Resinex, which has been handling the products in central and Eastern Europe since the beginning of 2007.

Ticona sales and distribution manager, Gunther Reitzel, said: “The success of this cooperation has encouraged us to extend our business partnership to other countries in which Resinex is well established.”

He added: “This cooperation offers clear competitive advantages for both parties – to the ultimate benefit of our mutual customers.”

The UK market is the latest to see Ticona’s wider adoption of the distribution route to market. It recently announced an extension of its relationship with Hamburg-based KD Fedderson, with which it works in Germany and France, to Northern Europe and Estonia.

Although the company has worked informally with some distributors which have developed additional sales and applications in the UK market, it has essentially served customers on a direct sales basis.

Now, it is understood to be backing the 80/20 market balance, continuing to serve bigger customers directly but relying on High Wycombe-based Resinex for smaller lot deliveries.

Ticona has given no details of any impact the decision will have on its Telford-based UK organisation beyond stressing: “We are not withdrawing from the UK market.”
